The Crawl Space

Colorado's Scale RC Crawler hobby shop and indoor rock course

Crawl Space Top Truck Challenge Rules & Regs.

Top Truck Challenge is designed to test the limits of you the driver and your rig. TTC events are open to all SORRCA spec'd Class 2 and Class 3 scale trucks.

Please come out with a vehicle of scale appearance and a smile on your face!

Preparation.

-Each registered truck will be required to have a minimum of 10 scale points, 25 points maximum will be applied to the drivers overall score.

(Event organizers are not responsible for adding your scale points, that being said if you do not have the required points to run in the event you will not be allowed to run.)

-Your truck will get wet and dirty. Waterproofing is highly recommended.

-Winches are not required but highly recommended.

Rules.

-Rules and judging have been streamlined to make it easier for everyone to understand and help judge to move the day along. If you have ever judged at a SORRCA based scale event you can help judge at the TTC .

Numero Uno Rule #1 Have fun!

This is the ultimate test of man and scale machine and its all about a good time. Drivers are encouraged to help other participants with course direction, winching, etc.

Winching: Vehicles must use onboard winches. No HAND winching. Drivers may use natural winch points or other trucks to winch from. Winches may be used to “unstuck” a vehicle or right a rolled vehicle. They may also be used to stabilize a vehicle during a climb.

Recovery tools must be carried on rig and then placed back on rig after each use. ie. pullpal, tow strap.

Dig/rear steer: Class 3 rigs equipped with dig and/or rear steer use them at any time on course and no penalty will incur.

Repairs: On course repairs are not allowed. Break on course, time is stopped and the driver will received appropriate points for the last gate progressed on course.

Off course repair is allowed. After your repair is done, you move to next course to move the day along. If you can't repair your rig you will get a DNF for any and all courses not finished.

Points and Penalties:

Hill Climb, Sled Pull and Mud Bog courses will be judged on gates progressed with no reverses, gates or out of bounds allowed, Time will stop once the truck has stopped making forward progress, has hit gates or boundary makers during a run and driver will receive appropriate points for the last gate progressed on course.

Rubicon, Obstacle Course, Frame Twister and Tank Trap courses will be judged on gates progressed with gate/boundary and rollover penalties calculated against the drivers score within the allotted time for the course. Drivers may reverse and winch to assist or recover their rig at anytime during the run with no penalty. A driver will receive a DNF penalty once time runs out before the driver finishes the course minus progress points.

-A gate or boundary touch on course, such as the Rubicon, Obstacle Course, Frame Twister and Tank Trap will incur a +5 point penalty.

-A hand roll over on course, such as the Rubicon, Obstacle Course, Frame Twister and Tank Trap will incur a +10 point penalty.

-Progress points (-2) for each gate cleared.

-Point out/DNF (Did Not Finish) +50 point penalty. DNFs are given anytime a driver accrue 50 penalty points, cannot complete a course for any reason, course time expires or truck breaks before completing the course.

Scoring:

Gates progressed and penalties incurred will be calculated for each specific course. A total for all courses will be tallied and scale points will be subtracted from the overall score for your total score of the day.

Event scoring:

Lowest score wins. In the event of a tie, there will be a tug of war between the two drivers with a best of 2 out of 3 tries.
